This is a beautiful hard cover cook book for babies and toddlers. While I get a lot of info online, this is a complete, tangible presentation from start to finish on what to feed babies, how to store it and for how long, and how to travel with it.

It's easy to follow, starting with what you will need overall and then specifically for each recipe. The books begins with baby and grows into toddler foods.

Favorites:
Baby food combinations - so simple and yummy
Baby food with herbs - I never would have thought of this!
Meat introduction - made me comfortable introducing meat to my baby
Mac and Cheese - with four additional combinations for veggies and flavors
Minis - everything from muffins, sandwiches, pitas, wraps, etc!
Turkey meatloaf - my older child loved this.

As someone who is not comfortable in the kitchen, but wanted to make all natural, homemade food for my baby - this book is my go to reference. The pictures are inspiring. The author gives tons of easy choices - such as four kinds of fruit salad combinations. It seems so simple, and it is, but I so appreciate the options. I also like knowing exactly how long the food is good in the refrigerator and how long to freeze.

We are a gluten free, dairy free family - and this book is not. THe author uses white flour, and wheat bread, etc, but I'm used to substitutions. I used my gluten free bread and coconut milk without any issue. There are also recipes with cheese, but other than the mac and cheese, I just left it out. We will do cheese on occasion.
Do you know a new parent? Do you know a baby? Do you know an expectant mom, a grandparent, an auntie? Do you like to eat delicious, fresh foods? Do you like to look at beautifully styled recipe books? Do you like "finger food"? If you can answer any of these questions in the affirmative, you or the person you gift this to will enjoy and benefit from this beautiful, practical, scrupulously planned, written and photographed book! Author/experienced cookbook editor and mom Kim Laidlaw has produced the most useful, helpful, informative food book for babies and toddlers!

Laidlaw's intro section, "A homemade start," is must-read for new parents who want to feed their baby healthy, properly-stored, safe, convenient homemade food. In my opinion, this section alone is worth the price of the book, because Laidlaw's clear, straightforward approach to homemade baby foods can instill confidence in the most timid of new parents. Following the intro, "Baby 4 to 12 months" introduces not only the customary baby foods, but also suggests truly interesting preparations and combinations. Laidlaw even introduces baby-safe spices into the late-infancy diet for what I feel is an excellent reason - to expand the baby's palate for future adventures in cuisine! In the next section, "Toddler 1 to 3 years," the author introduces the wonderful category of "minis," miniature versions of dishes made in mini muffin tins. After reading this section, I felt that I could probably exist on these minis for a very long time! From pasta primavera bites to frittata bites ( a great variety of these) to mini quiches (yummy!) and mini salmon cakes (double yummy!) Laidlaw applies her creative approach to kid food that is more like everybody food!
